Lubricating grease and sprays

The fat is mainly composed of base oils and additives. The properties of a fat are given by additives, the oil is only the carrier. Starting from the base oil, a pressure additive will help in high-pressure applications, a temperature additive will be used for high-temperature applications, a cleaning additive will be added when cleaning is essential, etc.

The key point is that fats are carefully designed and manufactured products based on specific needs and applications. The main difference between a natural fat and a synthetic fat is obvious: mineral oil-based fats are natural while synthetic oil-based fats are synthetic.

SYNTHETHIC GREASE

In a synthetic fat, since it is artificial, the molecular structure is always the same. For this reason, the synthetic grease generates a very thin fluid film, which reduces the amount of friction.
This is why synthetic greases work very well in high-speed applications and extreme heat management.
The disadvantage of synthetic fats is that since they are not natural, they are not compatible with natural additives; therefore, what can be added in terms of additives to a totally synthetic fat is limited. This is why synthetic fats are usually not multipurpose: their physical properties limit their ability to be so.

NATURAL FAT

Fats based on mineral oils are natural.

For this reason, it is exceptionally easy to add natural hydrocarbon additives thereto. It all comes together perfectly without consequences and without the need to emulsify. Therefore, a multipurpose mineral oil-based grease suitable for almost all industrial applications can be formulated, just as most workshops require.

La scelta del grasso corretto non è una cosa immediata e una lubrificazione non corretta è una delle principali cause di danneggiamento di componenti meccanici. Il modo migliore per scegliere un grasso multiuso è consultare attentamente le schede tecniche del prodotto (PDS) e confrontare i risultati dei test tra diversi grassi.
Attenzione però perché molti produttori elencano solo i test in cui i loro prodotti eccellono e omettono quelli che non mostrano buoni risultati.
Pertanto, un grasso progettato per applicazioni ad alta temperatura elencherà tutti i test di temperatura in cui ha avuto successo, ma ometterà i risultati dei test di stabilità al rotolamento o di prevenzione di ruggine e corrosione, degradazione, usura, ecc.
Per prendere la decisione giusta, devi sapere chiaramente cosa non può fare il grasso, i suoi limiti sono importanti tanto quanto la sua forza.
Un PDS adeguato deve elencare tutti i test eseguiti e mostrare i risultati e i metodi dei test.
