WHAT IS A MOLD RELEASE AGENT:
A release agent is a special lubricant used to coat the mold cavity and prevent the molded part from sticking to it, causing deformation of the part or aesthetic problems.
The release agent creates a thin barrier between the plastic and the mold, thus facilitating the removal of the molded part. A properly used release agent can help increase productivity, extend mold life, improve cycle times, and improve part quality.

WHEN TO USE THE RELEASE AGENT:
Using the release agent is recommended in all of the following situations:
•Use of particularly sticky resins
•Use of particularly hard or fragile resins, subject to damage during detachment
•Use of particularly aggressive, gaseous and polluting resins that can attack the surface of the mold
•During the production start-up phase, when the mold and general molding conditions are not optimal, to avoid the risk of gluing or overmolding.
•When the molding cycles are particularly long
WHAT TYPE OF RELEASE AGENT SHOULD I USE: SILICONE OR SILICONE-FREE?
Silicone has excellent release properties, but it can release oily residues that penetrate the printed piece and make it incompatible with some post-molding operations such as painting, screen printing, branding, coating/coating, gluing. Further operations of washing the parts immediately after extraction of the parts are therefore necessary before these operations can proceed.
The automotive industry uses only silicone-free release agents.
SPRAY RELEASE OR LIQUID?
Spray can release agents are ready to use, portable, practical and easy to use.
They allow the application of a thin, homogeneous film and allow for predictable spray direction, avoiding excessive application and product waste. Liquid release agents usually need to be diluted and require the use of a timed dispenser or a special gun.
INCORRECT USE OF DETACHMENT AND PROBLEMS CAUSED:
Excessive application is one of the most common errors and can create buildup of release agent residues and the formation of by-products on the mold that negatively impact the quality of the molded parts.
A low-grade release agent is unable to form a physically and chemically resistant film and will therefore allow plastic to penetrate and adhere to the mold surface with the risk of creating material buildup during molding. A release agent inadequate to the process temperature can cause problems with decomposition, residue accumulation and scale formation in the molds
