Hot Runner Cleaning
A hot runner system is the heart of an injection molding operation — and when it isn’t running clean, everything downstream suffers: plastic leaks, chamber imbalances, blocked runners, inconsistent part quality, and unplanned downtime.
Since 2008, PCT Europe has specialized in restoring hot runner systems to full OEM-level performance. We work on hot runners of every brand, type, and size, combining non-abrasive cleaning methods, precision electrical diagnostics, and genuine mechanical repair — all under one roof, so you’re not coordinating between three different vendors to get your line back up.
What Our Hot Runner Cleaning & Maintenance Service Covers
We handle the full range of hot runner issues, including:
- Plastic leaks and chamber imbalances
- Blocked or restricted runners
- Contamination and impurities inside the runner system
- Electrical malfunctions and temperature anomalies
- Wear on sealing surfaces and mechanical components
- Heater connection repairs and thermocouple replacement
- Nozzle repair and regeneration
- Spare part replacement (stocked and custom)
Our service range spans from simple chamber cleaning to complete reconditioning of complex hot runner components — including scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency repairs when a line goes down unexpectedly.
Our Hot Runner Service Process
1. Diagnostic inspection Every hot runner arrives at our workshop for a full inspection: electrical testing of heaters, mechanical wear assessment, and contamination analysis to determine the exact treatment required.
2. Non-abrasive cleaning We use dedicated equipment for effective, non-abrasive thermal and mechanical cleaning of runners and chambers, paired with chemical agents developed and tested specifically for hot runner components — preserving surface integrity so parts that meet specification can be reused rather than replaced.
3. Repair and reconditioning From heater connection repairs and thermocouple replacement to full Tier 1, 2, or 3 reconditioning, our technicians — experienced in both plastic molding and mold construction — restore components to like-new function.
4. Testing and reassembly Before a hot runner leaves our workshop, it’s tested to confirm electrical integrity, thermal balance, and mechanical fit.
5. Preventive maintenance programs For customers who’d rather avoid emergency downtime altogether, we offer scheduled preventive maintenance intervals tailored to your production volume and resin type.
Signs Your Hot Runner Needs Service
- Inconsistent fill or flow imbalance across cavities
- Visible plastic leaks at the nozzle or manifold
- Temperature fluctuations or heater fault alarms
- Increased scrap rate or surface defects on molded parts
- Longer cycle times than baseline
- Audible or visible wear at valve gates and sealing surfaces
If you’re seeing any of these, earlier intervention is nearly always cheaper than waiting for a full failure.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does hot runner cleaning and maintenance take? Turnaround depends on the extent of contamination and whether reconditioning or part replacement is needed. Simple chamber cleaning can often be turned around faster than a full Tier 2/3 reconditioning. Contact us with your system details for an accurate lead time.
Do you work on hot runners that are no longer supported by the original manufacturer? Yes. We service hot runners of any brand and age, and can source or manufacture custom spare parts, including reverse engineering, for obsolete or hard-to-find components.
What’s the difference between Tier 1, 2, and 3 reconditioning? This is a good opportunity to define your internal tiering system in plain language for customers who don’t know the terminology, recommend adding 2-3 sentences per tier once confirmed with your technical team.
Can you perform emergency repairs, or only scheduled maintenance? Both. We offer scheduled preventive maintenance programs as well as emergency repair service when a hot runner fails unexpectedly.
